Position Summary
World Renew is passionate about expanding our reach and deepening our impact through dynamic and strategic social media engagement. The Social Media Specialist is responsible for executing our social media efforts, enhancing our digital presence, and cultivating connections with key influencers. This role will be instrumental in crafting engaging content, driving brand awareness, and supporting media outreach efforts. By increasing constituent engagement, this position directly supports our mission to help more people overcome poverty and recover from disaster every year.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Execution
- Planning and executing compelling social media campaigns across platforms.
- Develop engaging content in alignment with World Renew’s voice, mission, and values.
- Utilize social media tools to schedule and publish content.
- Analyze social media performance data and make data-driven recommendations for optimization.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends to ensure a relevant and forward-thinking social presence.
- Monitor online engagement and respond appropriately to comments, messages, and tags.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align social efforts with overall communication strategies.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of campaigns.
- Serve as a digital ambassador for the organization, helping grow both reach and influence.

Media Relations Support
- Research journalists, publications, and media outlets relevant to World Renew’s mission.
- Assist in the development of media contact lists and media outreach strategies.
- Support the marketing team with media-related content and coordination.
- Contribute to consistent messaging across media and social platforms.

Required Qualifications
- Proficient in using major social media platforms and content creation tools.
- Demonstrated experience with social media visual storytelling including short-form video and design.
- Excellent research skills and a strong eye for relevant media opportunities.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strategic thinker with a creative mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
- Passionate about World Renew’s mission and aligned with our Christian values.
- Demonstrated ability to apply principles of inclusion and gender equity across global teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience leading social media initiatives for a brand or organization.
- Background in media relations, journalism, or public relations.
- Familiarity with social and media monitoring tools and analytics platforms.
- Connections with social media influencers or personal following is an asset.
- Experience in nonprofit marketing or fundraising communications is a plus.
- Proficiency in project management software and collaboration tools.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- May supervise consultants, interns, or volunteers on a project basis.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in social media, communications, or marketing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (preferred).
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English is required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Primarily computer-based work with extended periods of sitting and screen time.
- Must have consistent access to Internet connection
- Occasional travel within North America (up to 10 days annually).
