PURPOSE:

The Chief People and Culture Officer (CPCO) provides strategic leadership in HR planning, policy, organizational development, and transformative change, holding oversight for all People and Culture (P&C) related activities. This role ensures alignment with World Renew’s commitment to justice, mercy, and humility, fostering a thriving organizational culture that reflects our values and advances our mission.

The CPCO is a member of the Global Executive Team (GET), reporting to the Co-Executive Directors. This senior leader will promote productive, agile, and collaborative teams, processes, and systems, making evidence-driven decisions appropriate to various operating contexts. The CPCO must be an experienced and effective servant leader with the ability to approach business with both a systems lens and an innovative perspective, while collaborating successfully across all functions and levels of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Planning

• Actively participate in the strategic planning process for the organization.

• Provide recommendations on effective and sustainable talent management and organization design to support the over-arching strategy in alignment with our strategic plan “Imagine More”

• Partner with leaders and teams to support the priorities of the organization’s strategic and annual operating plans.

• Lead the P&C team in the creation of the team’s vision, strategy and planning to support the execution of the organization’s plans.

• Define, capture and rely on people analytics to identify trends in the creation of strategy, and to measure and recalibrate activities

• Embed needed P&C elements in ongoing organizational transformation, focusing on innovation, agility, and a healthy culture.

• Provide leadership and consulting for change initiatives.

• Coach the P&C team to support and drive strategic goals.

• Continuously evolve people and leadership practices to foster a feedback-rich, high-performance culture.

• Ensure sustainable systems (performance, talent, rewards) are in place to support organizational strategy.

Talent

• Develop comprehensive recruiting, onboarding, development, and retention plans aligned with organizational needs and strategy.

• Ensure hiring practices provide an exceptional candidate experience and result in excellent hiring decisions from diverse talent pools.

• Design and lead talent strategies and discussions, ensuring best practices for retention and multi-year plans on workforce skills.

• Oversee a talent pipeline process for future succession and growth, including leadership and technical competency development.

• Provide guidance and coaching to the senior leadership team on talent and performance management.

Employee Experience

• Ensure effective systems, tools and skills are in place to support a culture of high performance and that they are well understood and utilized by the organization.

• Coach leaders on building high performance teams and in making talent decisions to promote the needed achievement of goals.

Culture

• Serve as a visible culture champion, fostering a highly engaged, diverse, and innovative work environment.

• Model World Renew’s values, mindsets, and behaviors, ensuring our faith is reflected in our work.

• Provide opportunities for spiritual nurture, care, and encouragement to P&C staff.

• Communicate regularly about culture to the organization and provide reporting to the World Renew Boards of Directors.

• Lead DEI initiatives to foster a culture of inclusion, belonging, and equity.

Leadership and Management Development

• Inspire and guide the P&C team, fostering a collaborative work environment and a unified global vision.

• Provide evidence-based workforce recommendations to the Global Executive team.

• Work with the Global Learning Manager on defining, communicating, and measuring against leadership goals.

• Provide spiritual leadership, connecting faith to work and shaping a culture based on Christian values.

Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations across the countries where World Renew operates

• Maintain and enhance systems for reporting, accountability, and transparency.

Communications and Community Involvement

• Craft and oversee effective communications for the team and the organization.

• Work closely with the communications team to ensure timely and appropriate internal communications.

• Oversee a strong employer brand strategy to support recruitment.

• Participate in associations, relationship building, and information sharing within the sector.

Service Delivery

• Oversee and provide leadership to the P&C team globally.

• Ensure human resource compliance requirements are met, considering local legal requirements.

• Ensure responsive, accurate, and compassionate P&C services to staff.

• Provide strategic oversight of all reward programs, including salary, benefits, retirement plans, and engagement activities.

• Ensure effective IS systems are in place to support P&C activities and provide data to inform performance and strategy

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

2. 15 years of experience in Human Resources with roles progressing to senior leadership.

3. Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a non-profit, multinational organization, or relevant combination.

4. Experience as a strategic senior HR leader, including three or more years as a member of an executive team reporting directly to the President or CEO.

5. Strong managerial experience essential, with capability to lead, motivate, and develop highly productive teams, including effective Christian spiritual formation.

6. Background in successfully leading and developing a team of diverse HR professionals.

7. Strong business acumen.

8. Understanding and experience in agile environments and digital transformation.

9. Proven experience as a trusted advisor, partner, and leader.

10. CHRL and/or SHRM designation preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Must be highly fluent in English, with degree of professional acumen required to execute job accountabilities. Fluency in additional languages would be advantageous.
